Year 6 pupils have participated in an Enterprise Club this year. The initial £100, start-up cost from Virgin Money, was to be repaid when the enterprise was completed. The pupils’ task was to design, make and sell whatever product they chose, and attempt to make a profit within twelve weeks.
Sharing the money between three groups, the pupils learned about budgeting, conducted research amongst their peers and purchased their resources. The children enthusiastically spent several weeks creating bracelets, key chains and affordable, colourful school supplies.
A playground sale in the last session of Enterprise Club raised £260.17. After repaying Virgin Money the £100 loan, the groups were pleased to have made £160.17 for their school – a profit of over 150%.
