Dear Parents/Carers,
What a challenging cold week! Thank you for the support in getting your child into school on the freezing mornings. We are proud of our attendance levels and despite the chicken pox, coughs and colds the overall figure was 96.9% at the end of last term. Thank you!
Attendance: September to December 2025: 96.9%
Reading: Your support is vital. Please can you promote reading and read at home with your child. This year is a National Year of Reading. There is a decline in reading nationally yet it is the key to success in school. The route to becoming a good reader, especially at Key Stage 2 where often parental support drops off, is to read and learn new words. Please support us and thank you to the families who do support right up to Year 6.
Friends At Beecroft (FAB) For many, many years we have had the benefit of a parent and friends group who have supported our school with money raising, making teas and coffees at Family Assembly and drinks at Sports’ Day events. We have been lucky to have excellent helpers led by a parent as Chair of the group. The Chairs are supported by myself and school. All have been excellent over the years and have brought their own skills and talents. We need your support now as it would be sad if the group closed down because of lack of support. Jo Spellman, the current chair, leaves the school in July as her boys are in Year 6. We need helpers for tea and coffee and names on a Family Assembly rota. We need help for the upcoming school summer fair which children love. Any money, raised at the summer fair, is put straight into reducing the cost of trips and visits, new library books or musical instruments for example. Pupils love seeing their parent in school – PLEASE JOIN and DO ONE THING!
