Dear Parents/Guardian,

Thank you for your continued support which is ensuring excellent standards continue throughout school.

Reading Holiday Challenge

This proved to be a huge success with many children visiting a library over half term and reading at least 2 books. The pupils received their certificates in family assembly and are now proudly wearing their bronze and/or silver reading badges. Please keep up this regular habit of reading for enjoyment!

World Book Day

All children received their chosen book (or voucher Year 6).

Developing Reading at Key Stage 2- A Reminder

We are very pleased to have secured the involvement of Miss Goode, a highly experienced teacher and literacy specialist. She will be conducting the meeting as pre-arranged. This is to support parents with children in Key Stage 2 – Years 3 to 6. Parents of younger pupils may attend if they wish. If you did not return the slip please feel free to attend.

Meeting for Parents – Friday 14th March 9.15 – 10.15 (coffee at 9.00am) as usual in the hall

How you can help and what a good level of reading means.

This meeting will last one hour, maximum.

Music

We are looking forward to entering our up and coming musicians for their music medal awards.

Visits and Visitors

Wednesday 26th February the fire service came into school to work with Year 5.

Year 4 visited Saltaire as a part of their history and geography work.

Wednesday 12th March Year 3 are visiting the Victorian School at Armley Mills dressed as Victorian girls and boys to learn what life was like in the past.

Sport

In addition to the usual clubs, Key Stage 1 pupils have had the opportunity to attend sports training after school.

Leadership in P.E/Sport Nine Year 5 pupils have been trained in the Play Maker Award and gained their certificates. They are now going to lead playground games with Key Stage 1. They have developed valuable leadership skills in organisation, communication and leadership.

Times

Just a reminder that the school starts at 8:50 and Mrs Jackson, the school superintendent, has instructions to lock the gates at 8:55 for health and safety reasons.

Dates

Please note that due to Leeds City Council Elections and European Parliamentary Elections school will be closed for Polling Day on Thursday 22 May 2014.
