January 2017 Newsletter

Dear Parents,

A Mile A Day: We have already started this ‘Daily Mile’ initiative with Year 6 and are now extending this to all Key Stage 2 Years 3 – 6. This is not an extension of playtime but an effort to improve the physical, emotional and social health and wellbeing of children through a short burst of physical activity.  Mental wellbeing is as important as physical.  10 laps around the playground is a mile Children do not have to run their laps but will be encouraged to walk briskly if not running.  A time in the day has been allocated to each class.  New Year:  A time to get minds and bodies active and create a sense of wellbeing.

Attendance:  98% to 1st January 2017.  This is an excellent start to the 2016-2017 school year.  Please support us by encouraging good attendance (96% and above) with your child and always ring school on the first day of absence.

Parking – Milford Club: Please support us by safely parking on Sandford Road or continuing to Park and Stride by parking in the Milford Club car park. School starts at 8.50am.

Trips: Year 5 had an enjoyable visit to Armley Mills and the Year 3 classes have visited Cannon Hall Farm.

Virgin Active: A group of Year 5/4 pupils have been trained at Virgin Active as P.E Leaders.

P.E Kit: Dark shorts (blue, black) and a plain white T-shirt.

All Key Stage 2: Year 3 – 6 need their own fountain pen and cartridges.
