Headteacher’s Letter 15th May 2020

Dear Parents, Carers,
Thank you to all the children who have sent their ‘beautiful’ challenges – a video is in the making. Secondly, we wish Miss Stuart all the best as she starts her maternity leave this week. We look forward to hearing her future news. Miss Sayania , who you already know, was appointed as a Reception class teacher in October and has been sharing Miss Stuart’s Reception class with her. She will be class teacher from 3 June.

We have all been thinking about the government’s latest announcement on work and schools. I would like to encourage Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 to return on 3rd June, our start date after Spring Bank Holiday. The detail of a ‘zone’ system, that we are putting in place, will follow. In order to prepare the school I will be meeting cleaners on Monday 18 May. The very detailed government guidance on minimising risk is important to implement in full as I want you to have confidence in our next steps. Our set up at school cannot be as normal but our learning and education can. Classes will be smaller than usual of course.

Importantly, we need to know, as a matter of urgency, if your children will be returning on 3 June. Your decision is that they return to school for five days in full or that you are continuing with home-learning, which will be on the home-learning zone until 17 July.

We will not be pressurising you- it is entirely your decision. There will not be fines if your child doesn’t attend. My role is to make the right decisions about the health and safety measures needed in school to minimise risk as we move forward in this country-wide endeavour.

A brief phone call, to you, on Monday 18th May, will ask for your decision – is your child returning on 3 June? ( Nursery, Reception classes, Year 1 and Year 6) Key worker care will continue. If you choose school it is for 5 days as normal. The detail of organisation will follow.

Thank you for your cooperation and for all your support and consideration at this challenging time.

With best wishes,
J. Turner
