Year 3 Trip To Otley

After studying the features of Otley, Year 3 went on a full day trip to explore the town using their mapping skills.

Children were able to observe and identify key features from the ‘Surprise View’ at Otley Chevin. This included quarries, that now contain water and are considered a water source, recreational grounds such as football fields and rural aspects such as farms and fields.

We walked, quite a long way talking about the difference in terrain from Kirkstall, through Otley Chevin and made our way into the town where we encountered different amenities. As we convened in the market square, we took the opportunity to interview members of the public in groups and completed a survey using the feedback we collected.

Children were able to compare to their in-depth study of Kirkstall last year and think about the similarities and differences to these two areas of Leeds.
