Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope that the first week in school has gone smoothly for you.
A matter of concern for us is the safety of ‘morning procedures.’ The current route through the door on the narrow path is congested and we have concluded that it is unsafe for the volume of traffic. We want to make some interim (pending further discussion ) changes to where children come into school in the morning.
From Friday 19th September tomorrow – Key Stage 1 will use their own classroom door which takes them straight into their own classroom. A map is attached to clarify.
This works as follows – Morning 8.30am Coming into School Procedure (From Friday 19th September)
Year1 Mrs Sayer 1AS – Children enter through the external door in the small playground. The teacher will be at the door and there will be a support member of staff in the room supervising the changing with the internal classroom cloak cupboards.
Year 2RS Mrs Schofield will enter through the small playground external door. (and as above) The classroom door will be closed.
Year 2SS Miss Sayania – Children will enter through the door to their own classroom which is off the footpath at the side of school. Again a support member of staff will also be in the room. The classroom also has internal classroom cloaks. The classroom corridor door will be closed.
Key Stage 2 will continue to enter as they do now but we have ensured that there is a member of staff on each door. Mr Saddler (Superintendent) will be at the main green gate entrance on Sandford Road. He will stay for arrival at 8.30am and lock up at 8.40am. We have met with the staff today ensuring that they are clear about their responsibilities and this is written in a clear plan.
I hope that this is clear moving forward – we have practised the procedure with Key Stage 1 children.
