Headteacher’s Update: 21st March 2023

Dear Parents/Carers,
Three years on from the first lockdown – to date – it is good to be back to normal and the full running of everything that we do at Beecroft. Nationally, attendance is a real problem, but with your support we are again back to normal. I still need to reiterate the message, “Please do not take holidays in term time and definitely not in Year 6 or Year 2 where there are national assessments and tests.” Thank you for your support.

Wednesday 29th March: Family Assembly Spring Assembly and decorated egg competition. (Small holder – egg cup or toilet roll tube.) Please can pupils bring their decorated egg on Tuesday next week. FAB coffee morning afterwards. Year 3JF are doing the assembly.

Comic Relief: £205 raised

Fair Trade: £380 raised (over 2 weeks).

Sport: Beecroft U11s football team is still doing very well and are top of the league! More matches are yet to come so keep playing well.

Temporary Job opportunity: 10 hours cleaning. Sadly, one of our cleaners is very ill in hospital. Please ask for details in the office if you would like to know more. The post is subject to an enhanced DBS as we are committed to safeguarding our pupils.

Governors: Thank you to all our governors for spending a day monitoring the school. They went round all the classes whilst children were working and spoke to the school council, P.E. leaders and Arts Council.

One governor commented: “The tour of the school only reinforced what I already knew….that Beecroft is an excellent school and one I am extremely proud to be a Governor of.  I could mention all the positive things I saw; the wonderful discussion I had with the children about the school and their thoughts and opinions; the very positive and can-do ethos that surrounds the school; the calm and engaging learning environment but to be honest the list would be far too long.  In essence it was a wonderful morning.”

Dates:

Easter/Spring Break: Break up on Friday 31st March and return to school on Monday 17th April

1st may: Bank Holiday

8th May : Bank Holiday  (Year 6 National Statutory Tests 9th May to and including Friday 12th May)

Thank you for all you do in support of your children in their school life.

Best wishes,

J. Turner
